but first, this commercial message:
the list of gigs, shortened after a fun evening up in Dorset, Ontario, with the many and varied other artists taking part in the annual “Words and Wine” event. I have some photos, including one of a study of my feet as I waited to perform.
THE PRINCESS MARGARET HOSPITAL LOBBY/ATRIUM

with Norm Amadio on the grand piano; myself singing
SUNDAY, MAY 6 at a church somewhere - details later
with a choir (and I get a tiny solo, singing in Italian from La Traviata)
WEDNESDAY, MAY 23 7pm until 9:30 or 10pm
THE NICE BISTRO 117 BROCK ST. N., WHITBY, ONT (pronounce it 'neece')
with Norm Amadio, John Deehan, et moi.
FRIDAY, MAY 25 7:30-10:30PM
THE HOMESMITH BAR AT THE OLD MILL, TORONTO
Norm, John, and Ron Johnston on bass; I will sing.
Also for your viewing pleasure, an illustration that I have had for many years of a work by a Cape Dorset artist named Kenojuak. (Cape Dorset is unrelated to the place we were; it is located in Canada's Inuit north). The beautiful image is called “Bird with Colourful Plumage”, and I just gave the 34-year-old card to a friend that I've had even longer. Birds of a feather...may we both fly long, and colourfully.
And the promised 'soul talk' is just me, musing about my soul whispering to me while i was up north, looking at the huge spread of stars in the black sky of Haliburton, and suddenly feeling like it has been too long since I felt really connected with the vast cosmos. You know, sometimes there are secrets to the universe, or maybe even secrets in your own subconscious that just need to have the right environment to surface. The busy-ness of life gets in the way of the wisdom that I honestly believe we are born with, but lose, unless we nurture it. So I made a little promise to myself to get back to real business.
